One group of people believe that it originated in 1882 and was created by Edward Berners a pharmacist in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It is said that a customer by the name of George hallauer came into his shop and ordered an ice-cream soda but was refused because it was the Sabbath. So instead the store owner made him a bowl of ice-cream topped with chocolate syrup. But there is another story in Ithaca, NY, 1892. It is said that Reverend John M. Scotts walks into a pharmacy and he asks for a bowl of Vanilla ice-cream. The owner of the shop Chester Platt decides to decorate the ice cream with cherry syrup and a candy cherry on top. The creation was so beautiful that became a hit. Apparently Ithaca can support its story with an old advertisement of a photo of the Cherry Sunday. Who do you think made the first Sundae? CHEESE CAKE DAY
NATIONAL CHEESECAKE DAY Happy National Cheesecake Day! And for some good news, in honor of this special day the Cheesecake Factory has come up with a new creation of a chocolate caramelized swirl with a Snickers and Brownie crust topped with chocolate cream and Carmel. But best of all they will be donating a $0.25 for every slice bought from July 31 – July 29th 2021 to support A program called Feeding America. The program will generate a minimum of $300,000 which will be split between the national office and a local food bank where the Cheesecake was bought. The Cheesecake Factory has donated over $5.2 million dollars to this program which was launched in 2008. Who wants to indulge in Cheesecake with us to support a good cause and satisfy our bellies?

Happy Avocado day – Did you know that itβs a miracle we still grow avocados? Avocodos originated in central America where there were packs of giant plant eating mammals like giant sloths and terrestrial hippopotamus who lived on this fruit and devoured it daily. But since these impressive mammals are no longer with us there are no animals on this planet who eats avocados where they grow. In fact the avocado is toxic to most animals and only the Jaguar and Alligator can eat them whole. Lucky for us the people of Central America discovered the fruit and farmed it. The Mexicans then made avocados popular with yummy guacamole as a staple dish. We are so lucky the Avocado is still around today for us to enjoy. Who wants to celebrate Avocado Day with us?
